It seems like, even me with my social awkwardness and eccentric self, has managed to get a job.
It happened that a few weeks ago, I went for an interview at a local animation studio. A friend of mine who worked there told us that her boss needed a few more workers - to fill empty tables as the company itself was pretty small. I was originally not really part of the plan but since I could draw (somewhat) she told me to try getting the drawing part.
Me being me, I was a nervous wreck and did really badly in the interview. Miraculously, my friends (that went to the interview with me) and I were hired. So now I’m drawing in-between frames at an office hour of 9AM to 6PM.
Let me just tell you this: Although it’s just completing the flow of keyframes, in-between drawings are really hard to do! I have a new respect for them (not that I’ve never actually thought that the job is hard)
Also, for the first time in my short life, I drew a rooster, a goat that walks on his hind legs and a fox in a witch suit. The drawings are fairly simple - it’s a local animation catered towards kids after all - it’s just that I really suck at drawing them.
Because the in-between frames directly head to the scanner for painting and animating, the lines need to be clean and done with only one stroke. I had A LOT of trouble doing that since I’m used to sketching. The first day at the company, I was reminded many times about my messy lines. It was a good thing my mentor was really patient and let me do it at my own pace.
It’s quickly going into my 3rd week at the company and thankfully I’ve improved enough to be able to finish a whole scene and submit it without having to go to my mentor to double check. I feel really bad, okay? He has his own work and I’m bugging him constantly. I’m trying to keep from disturbing him as much as I can now ^^;;
I’m thankful though that they’re still babying me by letting me get away with hogging all the easy scenes but I hope one day I’ll be able to draw hard scenes like my mentor does (and do it as fast as he does!) and hopefully lessen their amount of work - at least so that it’s fair among us three.
